Business Development Manager (BDM)

Annie’s Ace Hardware is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented individual for the position of Business Development Manager (BDM).

General Description:  The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for two major areas of Annie’s Ace Hardware: Inventory accuracy and Business-to-Business (B2B) customer maintenance.  The BDM coordinates all facets of inventory management including oversight of staff standard operating procedures for conditioning and maintaining in-stock positions.  The BDM works with other members of the staff to develop a consistent and on-going approach to creating and sustaining business accounts. On an ad hoc basis, the BDM assists with community outreach as well as assists with special events. This position is based out of the Petworth location but works with business accounts and customers at both Petworth and Brookland store locations.

Specific Duties:

  • Inventory Management – Petworth store
    1. Develop complete working knowledge of:
      1. Eagle Inventory Management System (retail and inventory control software) including item addition, creating and receiving purchase orders, researching inventory variances, customer maintenance, A/R (accounts receivable), point-of-sale;
      2. Mango (inventory software) and oversee completion of Mango functions each month;
      3. Margin Master (margin analysis software) program for price changes, assist in running quarterly, and oversee staff process of price tag replacement;
      4. In-store pick-up process for online orders including the back office function; and
      5. Item Change Management software program for item closeouts and replacements.
    2. Work with store management team to increase overall in-stock positions, identify and remove slow-moving products, and identify new products/vendors that should be stocked.
  • Business to Business (B2B) – both stores
    1. With store management team:
      1. Grow and support existing business customer accounts at both stores.
      2. Build relationships with local businesses, community and government organizations to engage them to establish business accounts with Annie’s Ace Hardware;
      3. Assist with B2B marketing and general outreach and identify opportunities in the neighborhood for B2B presence;
    2. Respond to RFP’s and provide timely estimates for business customers, including sourcing non-Ace items when necessary;
    3. Coordinate order pick-ups and deliveries for business customers;
    4. Process monthly billing statements for business accounts;
    5. Assist business customers in utilizing Ace’s online B2B resource, The Supply Place, and source and process online orders via The Supply Place; and
    6. In general, serve as the B2B primary point of contact for existing business customers.
  • Community Outreach & Events
    1. As needed, develop community service opportunities for staff members of Annie’s Ace Hardware participation.
    2. As needed, assist with special events in and outside of stores.
  • Store Development & Operations
    1. Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to stocking, cashiering, and assisting customers in the store.

This is a full time (40 hour/week) position but with flexibility regarding hours.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Benefits include subsidized health insurance, vacation and sick leave, and a 401k match.
